Energy intake refers to the consumption of food and beverages that provide calories (energy).
Whenever you eat any food, you will be consuming a number of calories – this is also called energy intake.
Micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) do not contain any calories, it is only the macronutrients (proteins, fats, and carbohydrates) that do.
